Honor your mother and father

Galatians 4:1 I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no better than a slave, though he is the owner of all the estate;

Galatians 4:2 but he is under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father.

Leviticus 19:3 Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep my Sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

Exodus 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 

Deuteronomy 21:18 "If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they chastise him, will not give heed to them,

Deuteronomy 21:19 then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives,

Matthew 10:37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;

Punishment

Lamentations 3:27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

Proverbs 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.

Proverbs 13:24 He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.

Proverbs 19:18 Discipline your son while there is hope; do not set your heart on his destruction

Proverbs 22:15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him. 

Proverbs 23:13 Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you beat him with a rod, he will not die.

Hebrews 12:7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

Proverbs 3:11 My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline or be weary of his reproof,

Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Rulers on Earth

Ezra 7:26 Whoever will not obey the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be strictly executed upon him, whether for death or for banishment or for confiscation of his goods or for imprisonment."

Ecclesiastes 10:4 If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your place, for deference will make amends for great offenses.

Romans 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

Romans 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of him who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,

Romans 13:4 for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain; he is the servant of God to execute his wrath on the wrongdoer.

Romans 13:5 Therefore one must be subject, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.

Titus 3:1 Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for any honest work,

Titus 3:2 to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all men.

Testing

Hebrews 13:9 Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings; for it is well that the heart be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited their adherents.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour.

1 Peter 5:9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your brotherhood throughout the world.

Proverbs 1:10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

Matthew 10:21 Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death;

Maturing

Ephesians 4:15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,

Ephesians 4:16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every joint with which it is supplied, when each part is working properly, makes bodily growth and upbuilds itself in love.

Harmony & Equality

Acts 10:34 And Peter opened his mouth and said: "Truly I perceive that God shows no partiality,

Acts 10:35 but in every nation any one who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.

1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for the LORD sees not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart."

Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Look to yourself, lest you too be tempted.

Galatians 6:2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Careful who your friends are

2 John 1:10 If any one comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into the house or give him any greeting;

2 John 1:11 for he who greets him shares his wicked work.

Romans 16:17 I appeal to you, brethren, to take note of those who create dissensions and difficulties, in opposition to the doctrine which you have been taught; avoid them.

Romans 16:18 For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by fair and flattering words they deceive the hearts of the simple-minded.

Titus 3:10 As for a man who is factious, after admonishing him once or twice, have nothing more to do with him,

Proverbs 22:24 Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man,

Proverbs 22:25 lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.

Forgiving

Mark 11:25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against any one; so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."

Matthew 18:35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart."

Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also will forgive you;

Matthew 6:15 but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Love of pleasure

Ecclesiastes 8:11 Because sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the sons of men is fully set to do evil.

1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts,

1 Corinthians 6:10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are plain: fornication, impurity, licentiousness,

Galatians 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, party spirit,

Ecclesiastes 2:9 So I became great and surpassed all who were before me in Jerusalem; also my wisdom remained with me.

Ecclesiastes 2:10 And whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them; I kept my heart from no pleasure, for my heart found pleasure in all my toil, and this was my reward for all my toil.

Ecclesiastes 2:11 Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had spent in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 4:4 Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man's envy of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

Ecclesiastes 4:7 Again, I saw vanity under the sun:

Ecclesiastes 4:8 a person who has no one, either son or brother, yet there is no end to all his toil, and his eyes are never satisfied with riches, so that he never asks, "For whom am I toiling and depriving myself of pleasure?" This also is vanity and an unhappy business.

Ecclesiastes 6:2 a man to whom God gives wealth, possessions, and honor, so that he lacks nothing of all that he desires, yet God does not give him power to enjoy them, but a stranger enjoys them; this is vanity; it is a sore affliction.

Psalm 73:1  Truly God is good to the upright, to those who are pure in heart.

Psalm 73:2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had well nigh slipped.

Psalm 73:3 For I was envious of the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

Psalm 73:6 Therefore pride is their necklace; violence covers them as a garment

Psalm 73:8 They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression.

Psalm 73:9 They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth.

Psalm 73:10 Therefore the people turn and praise them; and find no fault in them.

Psalm 73:11 And they say, "How can God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?

Psalm 73:12 Behold, these are the wicked; always at ease, they increase in riches

Psalm 73:13 All in vain have I kept my heart clean and washed my hands in innocence

Psalm 73:14 For all the day long I have been stricken, and chastened every morning

Psalm 73:15 If I had said, "I will speak thus," I would have been untrue to the generation of thy children.

Psalm 73:16 But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task,

Psalm 73:17 until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I perceived their end.

Psalm 73:18 Truly thou dost set them in slippery places; thou dost make them fall to ruin.

1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced their hearts with many pangs.

Proverbs 21:17 He who loves pleasure will be a poor man; he who loves wine and oil will not be rich.

2 Timothy 3:2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

2 Timothy 3:3 inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, fierce, haters of good,

2 Timothy 3:4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

2 Timothy 3:5 holding the form of religion but denying the power of it. Avoid such people.

Inner-truth

Isaiah 13:11 I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pride of the arrogant, and lay low the haughtiness of the ruthless.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.

Proverbs 3:7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.

Proverbs 26:12 Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him

Deuteronomy 29:18 Beware lest there be among you a man or woman or family or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from the LORD our God to go and serve the gods of those nations; lest there be among you a root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit,

Deuteronomy 29:19 one who, when he hears the words of this sworn covenant, blesses himself in his heart, saying, `I shall be safe, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart.' This would lead to the sweeping away of moist and dry alike.

Deuteronomy 29:20 The LORD would not pardon him, but rather the anger of the LORD and his jealousy would smoke against that man, and the curses written in this book would settle upon him, and the LORD would blot out his name from under heaven.

Isaiah 47:10 You felt secure in your wickedness, you said, "No one sees me"; your wisdom and your knowledge led you astray, and you said in your heart, "I am, and there is no one besides me."

Ashamed of God
